USPS Raising Rates Ahead of Holidays

New rates could go into effect on October 2nd and end on January 22nd.

Sending gifts through the US Postal Service this holiday season could cost you more. The USPS says it plans to temporarily increase rates for the peak holiday season. The price increase would range from $.25 to $6.50 depending on the package. If approved by the postal regulatory commission, the new rates will go into effect on October 2nd and end on January 22nd. The USPS says the extra holiday shipping fees are to offset rising costs. They also warn that more price increases could be on the way.
