Taylor Swift Gets a Millipede Species Named After Her

The lead scientist says listening to Taylor Swift helped him get through graduate school...so he named one of his discoveries after her.

A Virginia Tech scientist honored his favorite singer in an interesting way…he named a new species after Taylor Swift. The Swift Twisted-Claw millipede is one of 16 new species named by a team of researchers in a newly published paper. The lead scientist says listening to Taylor Swift helped him get through graduate school…so he felt it appropriate to name one of his discoveries after her. The millipede is only found in Tennessee where swift grew up. So far, she hasn’t commented on her new leggy namesake.
