Body Found After Vehicle Drives Into The Waccamaw River
There are no signs of foul play but details surrounding the crash remain unclear as investigators work to learn more.
A vehicle went into the Waccamaw River in Georgetown County resulting in the death of one person.
Around 8:15am Monday, a pedestrian spotted a body floating in the water near the Wacca Wache Marina in Murrells Inlet.
Investigators pulled video footage from the marina to learn more. Video shows a vehicle driving into the water around 6am. A man in his mid-50s is then spotted getting out, but he was not able to make it back to shore.
There are no signs of foul play but details surrounding the crash remain unclear as investigators work to learn more. As of Monday evening, the vehicle remained underwater around 50 feet from the boat ramp.
Crews were using an underwater drone to search the vehicle and ensure no one else was inside. Further details are limited.
