Student Faces Adult Criminal Charges After Bringing Gun On School Campus

18-year-old Elijah McLaughlin reportedly showed a firearm to another student who informed school officials which prompted a search.

The student accused of bringing a gun on campus at a school in Robeson County has been identified.

18-year-old Elijah McLaughlin is a senior at St. Pauls High School. He reportedly showed a firearm to another student who informed school officials which prompted a search.

McLaughlin was found in possession of the weapon. He is now facing adult criminal charges including possession of a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon on school premises. He was also handed a 365-day suspension.

McLaughlin is being held at the Robeson County Detention Center without bond. The St. Pauls Police Chief commended the student who reported the gun describing their response as crucial to maintaining safety, calling them a hero.
