Myrtle Beach to Begin Demolition of Abandoned Motels in Downtown
Myrtle Beach has begun the process of demolishing 4 abandoned motels downtown. The properties located along 6th and 7th Avenue North between Kings Highway and Ocean Boulevard were purchased by the city in December as part of a $15 million deal in an effort to clean up parts of the Arts & Innovation District. Assistant City Manager Brian Tucker expects demolition on both the Sea Nymph Motel and Fountainbleau Inn to begin in the next few weeks. The city has not yet determined what will go on the property when the buildings are gone.
