Russia Continues Attacks in Kyiv and Chernihiv, U.S. Officials Believe Putin is Being Misled

The war in Ukraine continues even after Moscow said it would ‘drastically reduce’ it’s military assault in the cities of Kyiv and Chernihiv. Officials in the country said there has been no reduction in hostilities overnight and the mayor of Chernihiv told reporters a ‘colossal attack’ on his city happened despite progress in talks between Ukrainian and Russian negotiators in Turkey. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov also said yesterday that there had been no breakthroughs after the negotiations but that Russia welcomed Ukraine’s written demands. Here in the states intelligence officials have speculated that Russian President Putin is being misinformed by advisers about his military’s performance in Ukraine and advisors are scared to tell him the truth. The U.S. also believes Putin is being misled by how the Russian economy is ‘being crippled’ by sanctions put in place.
