3 Killed, Others Injured in Multi-Vehicle Accident in Eastern Pennsylvania

At least three people died after a snow storm led to a 50 vehicle pileup on Interstate 81 in eastern Pennsylvania yesterday. Heavy fog and precipitation from a snow squall caused the multi-vehicle crash with about 20 people taken to area hospitals with injuries and over two dozen fire companies responding to the scene. The pileup happened around 10:30 am in the northbound lane of I-81 in Schuylkill County which is about 50 miles west of Allentown. All lanes of the highway were closed during cleanup and several vehicles caught fire. A snow squall warning was in effect for parts of the state yesterday until 1:30 pm but there wasn’t a warning issued for the location of the accident at the time of the crash.
