Austin, Blinken Say U.S. Wants to See Russia’s Military Weakened

Yesterday, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that Russia was failing in it’s Ukraine incursion and Austin explicitly said that the U.S. wants to see Russia’s military capacities weakened. Blinken and Austin made the comments during a press conference in Poland following their trip to Kyiv. Austin said “We want to see Russia weakened to the degree that it can’t do the kinds of things that it has done in invading Ukraine.” Blinken also said that Russia’s attempts to “subjugate Ukraine and take its independence” have “failed.”
