Lloyd Austin, Antony Blinken Meet with Ukranian President Zelenskyy in Kyiv
Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin traveled to Ukraine this weekend for a meeting in Kyiv making them the highest-level U.S. officials to have traveled to the country since the Russian invasion began. While in Kyiv, they met with President Zelenskyy, and other Ukrainian leaders for around 90 minutes. Blinken and Austin pledged the United States’ support in the war and announced that U.S. diplomats would be returning to the country. They also discussed the Biden administrations intention to provide $713 million in additional foreign military financing to Ukraine and allied European and Balkan partners among other things.
