The Traffic Loop Will Not be Used During Memorial Day Weekend in Myrtle Beach

The traffic loop will not be in effect for Memorial Day weekend in Myrtle Beach this year. That announcement was made yesterday during a Human Rights Commission meeting. The city had previously implemented the one-way loop forcing all traffic on Ocean Boulevard to run southbound with northbound lanes reserved for emergency vehicles. In 2020 a jury found the loop ‘racially motivated’ but decided the loop would have been used regardless of race. This year, traffic on Ocean Boulevard will remain one way for emergency vehicles but the whole loop will not be used.
