Iconic Dorothy Dress is Headed to Auction

The proceeds from the sale will benefit the Catholic University of America’s Department of Drama.

A lost “Dorothy” dress worn by Judy Garland in the 1939 movie “The Wizard of Oz” going up for auction. On May 24th, one of the costumes Garland wore in the beloved film is set to be auctioned off during Bonhams’ Classic Hollywood: Film and Television Sale in Los Angeles. The white blouse and blue gingham dress combo is expected to fetch between 800-thousand and one-point-two million dollars. The proceeds from the sale will benefit the Catholic University of America’s Department of Drama. The dress was originally gifted to the former head of the university’s drama department in 1973 and then went missing in the eighties…only to be recently rediscovered.
