306 People Were Killed During Flooding in South Africa

Over 300 people were killed in South Africa yesterday after floods and heavy rains ripped through the east coast of the country. The tragedy marked ‘one of the darkest moments in history’ according to a tweet from the regional government. As the flooding hit KwaZulu-Natal the roads cracked and gave way to deep fissures, sweeping bridges away and leaving people stranded in Durban. The region experienced extreme rainfall since Monday in what the provincial government called ‘one of the worst storms in the history of our country.’
