Alyssa Nakken Makes MLB Coach History
Alyssa Nakken made history with the San Francisco Giants last night. Nakken made history as the first woman to coach on the field in a regular-season game when she took the spot last night in a 13-2 win over the San Diego Padres. Nakken came in to coach first base in the third inning after Antoan Richardson was ejected from the game. When she was announced as his replacement, she received a warm ovation from the crowd and a congratulatory handshake from Padres first baseman Eric Hosmer. Richardson said “I’m really excited that Alyssa got her opportunity to make her major league debut and I’m very proud of her, I think she did a really wonderful job and we got a win, so that’s the most important thing.”
