Russian War Crimes in Ukraine Being Investigated

Yesterday, the Prosecutor General of Ukraine said that her office is investigating 5,800 new cases of Russian war crimes with additional cases being added each day. Iryna Venediktova said that the country identified more than 500 suspects in their probe including Russian politicians, military personnel and propaganda agents “who wanted this war, who started this war and who continued this war.” Meanwhile, the United States is looking into reports that chemical weapons were used by Russian forces as they attacked Mariupol yesterday. During the attack at least three soldiers were injured by a ‘poisonous substance’ but so far no evidence has been presented to confirm it as a chemical attack. The Pentagon called the potential use of the weapons ‘deeply concerning’. Last month, President Biden said NATO would ‘respond’ if Russia used chemical weapons in Ukraine.
