U.S. Announces Additional Sanctions Against Russia
The war in Ukraine continues and the United States announced new sanctions against Russia this morning. The sanctions are on Russian financial institutions and individuals, including Russian President Vladimir Putin’s two adult daughters. The U.S. also announced sanctions on the wife and daughter of Putin’s foreign minister Sergey Lavrov. Putin’s daughter’s were sanctioned because the U.S. believes that he may be hiding some of his assets with them according to a senior administration official. The sanctions package will also ban all new investments in Russia, increase sanctions on financial institutions and state-owned enterprises in Russia, and sanction Russian government officials and their families.
