Longs Man Charged With 9 Counts of Animal Cruelty

A man from Longs is behind bars on animal cruelty charges after officers found five deceased dogs and seized four malnourished ones. 25 year old Henry Mumford is charged with nine counts of felony ill-treatment of animals, one count of possession of stolen property more than $2,000 and one count of possession of a stolen firearm. On Monday, the Horry County Police Department Environmental Unit served a search warrant at the home on Kids Lane and found five dead dogs on the property and four emaciated and severely dehydrated dogs. Those dogs were taken to the Horry County Animal Care Center for emergency veterinary care and are not available for adoption or rescue at this time.
