Senate Reaches Deal For $10 Billion in Covid-19 Assistance

The Senate has reached a bipartisan deal to provide an additional $10 billion in Covid-19 assistance. The deal will allow the Biden administration to purchase more vaccines and therapeutics as well as maintain testing capacity and research. One of the main things missing from the White Houses’ request is $5 billion in funding for global Covid-19 aid or replenishing the program that pays for testing, treating and vaccinating the uninsured. The deal will be paid for using unspent funds from the $1.9 trillion Coronavirus Relief Package that was enacted in March of last year.
