Dollywood Closes Ride After Teen’s Fatal Fall in Orlando

The Pigeon Forge amusement park said the decision is out of an abundance of caution.

After a fatal accident at a Florida theme park last week, Dollywood has temporarily closed a similar free fall ride. 14-year-old Tyre Sampson died last week after falling from the Orlando free fall at Icon Park. Officials with Dollywood in Tennessee made the decision to shut down their ‘Drop the Line ride developed by the same maker of the one involved in that tragic incident. The Pigeon Forge amusement park said the decision is out of an abundance of caution until more is known about what caused Sampson to be ejected. The Icon Park attraction is fully cooperating with investigators and the Orlando free fall ride will be closed indefinitely.
