A brand new heart treatment is being offered at MUSC Florence. The shockwave therapy treatment is designed to help break up calcium in a person’s arteries and is similar to the procedure that breaks up kidney stones. One cardiologist at MUSC says they see a lot of coronary disease and people coming in with chest pains and heart attacks. Now, the treatment will allow them to see more patients with those issues. So far, the location has been using the treatment for about six months and they’ve seen positive progress.
