Arizona is the First State to Accept Digital Driver’s Licenses
To ensure the ID is official, users have to take a selfie after scanning.
Arizona has become the first state to accept digital driver’s licenses on iPhones. iPhone owners with an Arizona license or state ID can now upload them to their Apple Wallet, but the uses are still very limited. Arizona residents with TSA Pre-check can present their digital license or state ID at select checkpoints in Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. It works similarly to using Apple’s Wallet feature to make purchases at card readers. However, travelers from Arizona will still need their physical ID’s to fly home from another state. iPhone users will also still have to show a physical ID to do things like enter a bar or show identification at traffic stops. To ensure the ID is official, users have to take a selfie after scanning and uploading a picture of their license or ID card. Facial and head movements also have to be completed.
