Texas Mall Shooter Was Dismissed From U.S. Army Due To Mental Health Issues
No official motive has been released, but he was sporting an insignia, believed to be associated with extremist groups.
New details have been revealed regarding the gunman who opened fire at a Texas mall killing eight people including children, and leaving several others injured.
On Saturday, Mauricio Garcia used an AR-15 style weapon to carry out the massacre before he was gunned down by a police officer. That weapon and others found in his possession were purchased legally from private sellers, which means Garcia did not have to go through a federal background check to obtain the firearms.
Nearly 15 years ago, Garcia was terminated from the Army due to a mental health condition after an evaluation.
No official motive has been released, but he was sporting an insignia, believed to be associated with extremist groups.
Social media accounts belonging to Garcia also revealed writings approving Nazi ideology, images of his weapons, and a photo of the mall with a screen-shot from Google Maps showing what times of day the outlet mall was busiest weeks before the shooting.
An investigation is still on-going.
