Denver Deputy Killed

A Colorado deputy is dead and several more injured after a barricaded suspect opened fire at an apartment complex in a Denver suburb.

Deputies were responding to a domestic disturbance at an apartment complex near Denver Sunday, when they came under fire. Police say they were shot at more than 100 times. Opioid abuse is blamed for lowered life expectancy in the United States.

Drug abuse is being blamed for decreased life expectancy in the U.S. for a second year in a row. At least three people are confirmed dead and more than 50 are injured in a deadly train derailment in Washington state.

Several people were killed and dozens injured -many seriously- when Amtrak train number 501 went off the tracks. A power outage lead to a holiday nightmare at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
