Trump Pauses 50% Tariffs On Canadian Goods After Possible Deal

That would have covered around $20 billion in Canadian imports, including liquor, dairy products, vehicles, and more.

President Trump is pausing 50% tariffs on Canadian goods that were set to take-effect Wednesday. He said the two countries have reached a deal pending final documentation.

The pause comes just before the tariffs were set to impact three days under the Tariff Act of 1930. That would have covered around $20 billion in Canadian imports, including liquor, dairy products, vehicles, sports equipment and other goods.

Certain food products, wearables, synthetic materials and industrial goods were also expected to be affected. President Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney reportedly reached an agreement but details are limited. It will address market access, economic security and digital trade.
