Fewer Americans are Gambling

Gambling is down in the U.S. At least, the number of people who admit to it is.
A new survey shows 45 percent of adults report any kind of gambling. That includes things like buying a lottery ticket, betting on a sports game, playing at a casino and gambling on predictive markets. That’s down significantly from the 64 percent reported ten years ago. Fewer Americans also say gambling is morally acceptable.
One caveat is this is all self-reported behavior. Also, the percentage of respondents who said they gambled in was 53 percent. That’s eight points higher than those who admitted to it in phone interviews.
