Southwest Airlines Bans Human And Animal Like Robots On Flights
The company defines the robots as any designed to resemble or imitate a human or animal in its appearance, movement, or behavior.
Southwest Airlines has put a unique ban in place, following two viral incidents.
The carrier has implemented an official policy banning customers from transporting their “human-like” or “animal-like” robots “in the cabin or as checked baggage, regardless of size.”
The company defines the robots as any designed to resemble or imitate a human or animal in its appearance, movement, or behavior.
All other robots, like toys, must fit within a carry-on size bag and comply with existing battery restrictions.
The decision comes after two different passengers bought seats for their robots. The airline said the ban comes due to “the size of lithium-ion batteries used to power them and the risk they pose during flight.”
