Man Charged Six Years After Fatal Robeson Co. Shooting

An arrest has been made six years following a fatal shooting that unfolded in Robeson County.

On Aug. 29, 2020, police responded to Jimmy’s Mobile Home Park on Norment Road in Lumberton on reports of two people shot.

Upon arrival, 23-year-old Johnathan Locklear and then 29-year-old Brandon Oxendine were both found suffering from gunshot wounds. They were taken to a hospital where Locklear died but Oxendine survived.

Following an investigation, now 35-year-old Oxendine was arrested on Wednesday in Oak Island by the U.S. Marshals Service Carolinas Fugitive Task Force and the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, according to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.

Oxendine is charged with voluntary manslaughter and is being held at the Robeson County Detention Center on a $100,000 secured bond. The investigation remains underway.
