Horry Electric & Santee Cooper Announce Summertime Peak Hours Shift

Starting April 1-October 31, the peak hours will shift to 3-6pm.

Horry Electric and Santee Cooper announced that peak hours are shifting for the season.

From November 1-March 31, the peak hours were 6-9am. But, starting April 1-October 31, the peak hours will shift to 3-6pm.

During that time, energy consumption spikes as people go through their evening routines, using their heating or cooling systems and other large appliances the most.

“The change is designed to help customers manage their energy use during the high-demand afternoon hours,” Santee Cooper said.

“There are only three hours a day you need to keep an eye on,” Horry Electric said.
