Coastal Carolina University reported a gas leak on it’s campus Tuesday.

Around 2:30pm, the Conway Fire Department responded to a natural gas leak at an active construction site near 125 W. Chanticleer Drive.

A gas line was damaged during construction of the Health and Human Performance Facility. Buildings in the immediate area were evacuated including Brittain Hall. Surrounding roads were also closed while Dominion Energy arrived to repair the leak.

Coastal later announced that Brittain Hall could resume normal operations following the evacuation. Replacement parts are needed to complete the repair of the gas line. The outage affected dining operations, building heating systems and hot water service on the main campus.
