Angel Vause Seeks To Overturn Sentence In Brittanee Drexel Case
Angel Vause pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI during the investigation into Drexel's disappearance.
The woman charged in connection to the death of Brittanee Drexel has asked a federal appeals court to overturn her 18-year prison sentence.
Angel Vause is the former girlfriend of convicted kidnapper and killer Raymond Moody, who took Drexel’s life back in 2009 while she was vacationing in Myrtle Beach.
It wasn’t until 2025 that Vause pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI during the investigation into Drexel’s disappearance. Vause’s attorneys claim her sentence stems from three statements she made during a single FBI interview and should have been treated as only one offense. They argue that the sentence was significantly higher than what they requested.
The filing also argues the judge improperly enhanced Vause’s sentence based on factors she was never formally charged with or admitted to. Her attorneys are now asking the appeals court to order a new sentencing.
