Suspects Arrested In Connection To Louvre Heist
It is unclear if any jewels have been recovered and the investigation remains underway.
French police have arrested two suspects in connection to the Louvre heist.
Last Sunday, thieves took less than eight minutes to steal jewels valued at $102 million from the world’s most-visited museum. They used a basket-lift to scale the facility, forced open a window, smashed display cases and fled.
Hundreds of investigators were put on the case to recover the stolen jewels and apprehend all of the perpetrators. Two men in their 30s, both known to police, have now been taken into custody. One suspect was arrested as he attempted to board a plane.
It is unclear if any jewels have been recovered and the investigation remains underway. Paris’ Louvre Museum has since reopened following the incident.
