Hamas Political Leader Ismail Haniyeh Killed In Airstrike
The strike came only hours after Israel targeted a top commander of Iran's ally Hezbollah.
Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh was killed by an airstrike in the Iranian capital Wednesday.
Iran and the militant group have blamed Israel for the assassination which could further escalate tensions in the Middle East.
The strike came just after Haniyeh attended the inauguration of Iran’s new president in Tehran. It also came only hours after Israel targeted a top commander of Iran’s ally Hezbollah.
However, Israel has not yet confirmed or denied responsibility. The IDF vowed to kill Haniyeh and other hamas leaders since the October 7 attack on southern Israel.
Iran’s supreme leader said they consider Haniyeh’s revenge their duty after a dear guest in their home was targeted.
