Harris Secures Enough Delegates To Win Democratic Party’s Nomination

During her first day as a candidate, Harris raised $81 million, marking the largest 24-hour raise by any candidate ever.

Vice President Kamala Harris has secured enough support to win the Democratic party’s nomination for president.

On the first full day of her campaign, Harris was immediately backed by more than the 1,976 pledged delegates needed to win the nomination on the first ballot.

Also during her first day as a candidate, Harris raised $81 million, marking the largest 24-hour raise by any candidate ever.

With no credible challenger emerging the day after President Biden announced his exit from the race, it was made clear the biggest remaining question about the 2024 democratic ticket is who Harris will choose as her running mate.
