The family of a Florida man who drowned off the coast of North Myrtle Beach is suing the city.
On July 26 of 2023, 30-year-old Michael Letzkus died at a hospital days after being pulled from the water.
Beachgoers found the victim floating face down near 54th Avenue North.
The family’s attorney claims Letzkus would have passed two lifeguard stands and approached a third.
It was said it wasn’t until nearly 45 minutes after he entered the water that his body was found a mile away.
The city has denied claims in the suit without providing further explanation.
