Horry County Patrol Vehicle Fatally Strikes Beachgoer

The truck entered the beach traveling north from Nash Street and struck the woman shortly after.

A woman was run over by an Horry County Police vehicle in a fatal accident Thursday.

The incident occurred shortly after 1pm near the Springmaid Pier.

An Horry County officer was patrolling along the beach when they reportedly ran over the beachgoer as she was sunbathing in a chair.

The truck entered the beach traveling north from Nash Street and struck the woman shortly after.

The victim was transported to a hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Identities of those involved have not been released at this time.

Horry County Police has not yet publicly commented on the accident.

An investigation is currently underway.
