Federal Judge Pauses President Biden’s Proposed Changes To Title IX

District Judge Reed O'Connor said the federal government “engaged in unlawful agency action taken in excess of their authority.”

A federal judge in Texas has paused President Biden’s proposed changes to Title IX.

The changes recommend expanding protections for transgender students at all government funded schools.

District Judge Reed O’Connor said the federal government “engaged in unlawful agency action taken in excess of their authority.”

The judge has now ruled against Biden’s attempts to expand Title IX but this is not the first time.

In 2016, he also went against the Obama Administration making a similar attempt to expand protections to transgender students.

The judge’s reasoning in Tuesday’s ruling, is the Biden Administration went beyond its authority and did not allow correct time for comment, which is the same as his explanation for the Obama Administration decision.
