ICJ To Allow Israel To Continue War Through Genocide Investigation
South Africa initially asked the United Nations' top court to order Israel to immediately stop it's war in Gaza.
The International Court of Justice has ordered Israel to take all measures to prevent acts of genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza strip.
South Africa initially asked the United Nations’ top court to order Israel to immediately stop it’s war in Gaza, alleging it violated the 1948 convention on the prevention and punishment of the crime of genocide.
The convention defines genocide as acts such as killings “committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group.”
However, though the case will still proceed as investigations begin to take place, Israel will not have to stop fighting during this time period.
In addition, Israel must allow humanitarian aid to the Palestinians and refrain from destroying any evidence related to the case.
