The World’s First Smart Mailbox Can Receive Mail by Drone

It's climate controlled, has a remote access, bluetooth, and offers security and theft prevention.

Most mailboxes are pretty simple…but new technology could be changing they way we receive snail mail. The first ever high-tech mailbox is in Lawrence, Indiana and it’s part of a pilot project for the U.S. Postal Service. The company Dronedek has designed a box with a landing pad and sensors for drones to drop off an item. It’s climate controlled, has a remote access, bluetooth, and offers security and theft prevention. A user can unlock the drone docking station by using a code, a keypad, or the phone app. The owner says says they are hopeful more of these smartboxes will soon be available and believes this could turn into a lot of different job opportunities moving forward.
