Millions of Americans Expected to Travel July 4th Weekend
If you’re planning to travel over the weekend you might want to leave early to avoid traffic and expect delays or cancellations at the airport. AAA predicts 42 million people will take a road trip of 50 miles or more which is more than ever, even with the rise in gas prices. The agency says with the combination of vacationers and commuter travel times could double the norm during peak hours. The best time left to travel today would be leaving after rush hour and congestion on Sunday and Monday should be lower. AAA also predicts the amount of travelers taking to the skies this year will be the lowest since 2011 but 3.55 million people are expected to fly. AAA also says airfare is about 14% more expensive than it was last year.
