Horry County Firework Rules Ahead Of 4th Of July

Police and fire rescue are ramping up patrols for the holiday weekend, and violators may face civil penalties, hefty fines, or jail time.

The Fourth of July is this weekend and Horry County officials are reminding people of rules to follow.

Fireworks are permitted on private property between 7am and 12:30am on Independence Day. However, all fireworks are strictly prohibited on the beach. They are also prohibited on public lands, county parks, and within 500 feet of churches, hospitals, or posted “fireworks prohibited zones.”

Individuals under the age of 18 cannot ignite fireworks unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Police and fire rescue are ramping up patrols for the holiday weekend, and violators may face civil penalties, hefty fines, or jail time.

In addition, due to severe drought conditions, officials are urging people to avoid dry land when using fireworks saying the risk of a fire spreading is much greater.
