Another Arrest Made In Connection To Pawleys Island Church Investigation

Michael Fields was arrested and charged with unlawfully placing a child at risk or causing a child harm.

Another arrest has been made in the investigation into the Pawleys Island Community Church and Pawleys Island Christian Academy.

On Wednesday, Michael Fields was arrested and charged with unlawfully placing a child at risk or causing a child harm. He served as the church’s director of operations and missions and was responsible for the security of the campus and the safety of students attending the academy.

The investigation has now entered its third week and continues to examine how church leadership allegedly allowed convicted sex offender Warren Perry to volunteer on campus in proximity to children, for years.

Perry was arrested and a hearing was held Thursday morning in which the judge found he violated the conditions of the agreement and ordered the case to be forwarded to general sessions.

Also facing charges in the investigation are former pastor Don Williams, church administrator Ginny Williams, and Niki Howard. Several lawsuits have been filed against the church as well.
