New Lawsuit Filed Against Pawleys Island Church And Academy

The new lawsuit was brought on by a Jane Doe on behalf of her young son who attended the academy.

A fourth lawsuit has been filed against the Pawleys Island Community Church and Pawleys Island Christian Academy.

The new lawsuit was brought on by a Jane Doe on behalf of her young son who attended the academy. The child was reportedly enrolled at the school from at least Sep. 2025 through July 2026. That was while registered sex offender Warren Perry was allowed to volunteer with what the lawsuit described as “unrestricted daily access” to children.

The lawsuit accuses the church, academy, former pastor Don Williams, former academy director Niki Howard, Don’s wife Ginny Williams and Perry and unnamed church elders of negligence, negligent hiring and supervision, negligent misrepresentation, breach of contract, violating the South Carolina Unfair Trade Practices Act and other claims.

The complaint claims the leaders knew of Perry’s status but failed to disclose the info to parents while marketing the school as safe environment. This lawsuit also alleges a teacher previously raised concerns about Perry’s presence but was forced out after bringing those concerns to administrators.

The filing is the latest civil lawsuit stemming from the ongoing investigation. It is seeking actual, consequential and punitive damages.
