Inflation Increased To Highest Level Since 2023 In April

The Bureau of Labor Statistics said that the index rose 0.6% from a month ago and is 3.8% higher than last year.

Energy prices rose 3.8%, that’s up 17.9% from last year. Gas prices rose 5.4%, up from 28.4%, food is up 0.5%, up from 3.2%, while housing prices were 0.6% higher, up from 3.3%, and transportation services rose by 0.3%, up 4.3%.

The increase in prices comes amid the current conflict with Iran and the impact the war had on the energy market and broader economy.
