115 People Sickened By Norovirus Outbreak Aboard Cruise Ship

The Norovirus spreads quickly from sick people through contaminated food, water or surfaces.

From a Hantavirus outbreak on one ship, to another unfolding on a separate cruise ship.

The Caribbean Princess cruise vessel left from Port Everglades on April 28 and intends to return to Port Canaveral in Florida Monday.

However, last week there were 102 passengers and 13 crew members on the ship who reported being ill. Those affected have tested positive for the Norovirus, which spreads quickly from sick people through contaminated food, water or surfaces.

The CDC said Princess Cruises has responded to the outbreak by increasing cleaning aboard the ship and isolating ill passengers and crew members. The total number of sick passengers accounts for about 3.3% of the 3,116 passengers aboard the cruise ship.
