Gunman Opens Fire Atop Historic Pyramid In Mexico
The suspect was identified as 27-year-old Julio Cesar Jasso, a Mexican national.
A gunman opened fire while atop a historic pyramid in Mexico Monday.
The shooting happened around 11:30am, when dozens of tourists were at the top of the Pyramid of the Moon.
Seven of the victims were struck by gunfire, while others were injured in the chaos with some falling during the panic.
Those hospitalized included tourists from several countries, among them the U.S., Brazil, Canada and more. The victims range in age from six to 61.
The suspect was identified as 27-year-old Julio Cesar Jasso, a Mexican national, who later died by a self inflicted gunshot.
Security officials also found him armed with the gun, a knife, and ammunition. He reportedly acted alone. A motive behind the attack is unclear as an investigation remains underway.
