Judge Halts Trump’s Proclamation Blocking Harvard Students’ Visas
The judge will now hold a hearing on June 16 to further decide on whether to block it indefinitely.
A federal judge has put a halt to President Trump’s feud with Harvard University.
The president recently signed a proclamation that blocks visas for foreign students planning to attend the Ivy League school.
U.S. District Judge Allison Burroughs has now temporarily blocked the proclamation after Harvard rushed to court to fight the decision.
Burroughs issued her order before the government responded, claiming the school would otherwise “sustain immediate and irreparable injury before there is an opportunity to hear from all parties.”
The judge will now hold a hearing on June 16 to further decide on whether to block it indefinitely.
The move marks the latest in an ongoing feud between President Trump and Harvard which stems from different views on various topics including diversity, equity, and inclusion.
