Captain Jonathan Evans with the Myrtle Beach Fire Department stopped by the studio with details on two upcming events.

The first is the annual Dickens Show Charity event November 10-13 with Myrtle Beach Police and Fire to raise money for Shop With a Hero! Shop With a Hero is the program originally started by the Myrtle Beach Police Department where our organizations take underprivileged kids Christmas shopping for them and their families followed by breakfast with Santa at the Train Depot. The last few year we’ve been able to raise between $3,000-$5,000 dollars between pictures and monetary donations from the show, and we are hoping to raise even more this year. https://www.facebook.com/events/834043454457210?acontext=%7B%22event_action_history%22%3A[]%7D

The second event is the Guns and Hoses Softball Tournament to raise money for SOS Care Project Lifesaver. 8 Teams (4 fire and 4 police) will compete in a day long tournament at the Pelicans Stadium on Saturday, November 12 starting at 10:00AM with the Championship game at 5:30PM. Tickets are $5 and all ticket sales and money raised will go to SOS Care Project Lifesaver which pays for equipment that helps find people with disabilities who have a tendency to wander away from their families and get lost. Teams are made up from members of the Myrtle Beach Police and Fire Departments, North Myrtle Beach Police and Fire Departments, Horry County Police and Fire Departments, Midway Fire Department, and the State Highway Patrol. Gates open at 9:00AM and tickets can be purchased at the gate.
