A bipartisan group of senate negotiators have reached an agreement on new measures addressing gun violence. The group made the announcement yesterday. It includes a crack-down on criminals who illegally evade licensing requirements as well as an investigative period to review juvenile and mental health records for gun buyers under 21. That includes checks with state databases and local law enforcement. the proposal would also include “major investments to increase access to mental health and suicide prevention programs. School security will be addressed as well with funds provided to help institute safety measures in and around primary and secondary schools.
