FDA Puts Strict Limits on Johnson and Johnson Covid-19 Vaccine

The FDA has put strict limits on the Johnson and Johnson Covid-19 vaccine. The FDA announced yesterday that it is limiting the emergency use authorization for the vaccine to people who are 18 and older for whom other vaccines aren’t appropriate or accessible and those who opt for Johnson and Johnson because they wouldn’t otherwise get vaccinated. The FDA said it made the change because of the risk of a rare and dangerous clotting condition called ‘thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome or TTS after receiving the shot. As of yesterday, more than 18.7 million doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine have been administered in the United States and 7.7% of those who are considered fully vaccinated chose Johnson and Johnson.
