Ukrainian President Zelenskyy Address Congress from Kyiv, Biden Announces $800 Million in Aid for Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed Congress this morning and pleaded with the lawmakers to ‘do more’ by implementing a no-fly zone, providing additional aircraft and air defense systems and creating a new security alliance. Zelenskyy appeared virtually from Kyiv and thanked President Biden for his ‘personal involvement’ and ‘sincere commitment to the defense of Ukraine’ and the United States for the aid it’s provided so far.

Following Zelenskyy’s address, President Biden announced an additional $800 million in security assistance for Ukraine. The package includes anti-tank missiles and more defensive weapons that the U.S. has already provided including javelin anti-tank and stinger anti-aircraft missiles. The additional $800 million will come from the spending bill signed into law yesterday which includes $13.6 billion total in new aid.
