Joint Base Andrews Locked Down Last Night After Vehicle Drives Through Security Checkpoint

Yesterday, Joint Base Andrews was placed on lockdown after a vehicle drove through a security checkpoint at the base. The vehicle was stopped after a security forces group deployed barriers at the main gate of the base around 9 pm. At least two people fled the vehicle and one was apprehended. According to the base, that individual had a weapon but no shots had been fired. The whereabouts of the other suspect was unknown until this morning when evidence was found indicating the second intruder ‘departed the installation.’ The main gate at the base remained closed as of last night. The incident occurred after Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff took off from the base on Marine Two. Harris had arrived on the base after a trip to Selma Alabama to mark the 57th anniversary of ‘Bloody Sunday’. The motive behind the incident is unknown at this time.
